1. Fumio Sasaki’s apartment
One person who is extremely famous for pursuing a minimalist lifestyle is Fumio Sasaki. In the past, he also had a headache when he had to spend a lot of time cleaning up his living space, which was always messy and arranged seemingly useless things. He became lazy, tired and constantly complained about not having enough money to fulfill his hobbies. Life changed when he lived a minimalistic life.
Sasaki currently only has 3 shirts, 4 pairs of socks, 2 jackets and a few other clothes. In his bathroom, you can see only a razor, scissors and a bottle of soap used to wash his face, wash his hair and even wash the dishes.
Previously, Mr. Sasaki had quite a headache when he did not have enough shelves for all his books. He never even started reading most of the books on the shelves. He also has a collection of CDs and DVDs that take up a lot of space. In his wardrobe, he has favorite sets but only wears them a few times. In another corner there is a guitar and many personal items.
What he usually does every night is sit in front of the TV and drink beer. He would wake up late and always doubt his existence. He finds it difficult to change his own life. He even broke up with his girlfriend because he didn’t have enough money to provide for her.
But everything changed when he read an article about minimalism. He realizes that his life is confined to a mess, but doesn’t have enough energy to clean his place because of so many things.
It took him a year to get rid of all his useless stuff. He gave away to friends, or sold his belongings, his collection after he scanned the images and archived them digitally.
After cleaning up, Sasaki’s mind also became free along with his space. Currently, he has a lot of free time to do what he likes, he also often goes camping and does physical activity. He encourages people to leave their apartments, spend time with friends, develop themselves, enjoy delicious food and travel.
Every day, he no longer struggles to choose, thinking about what to wear in the morning, does not spend hours choosing the perfect shampoo and of course, he only spends about 2 minutes to clean the floor.
Currently, he is a magazine editor and owner of a blog about minimalism. He is happy that more and more people love minimalism, always bravely removing useless things in their home as well as in their minds.
